Handy pub called Fox Inn to stop at at Brook Bottom about 7km or so in. the stretch home along the canal was a little boring but still lots of interesting things to see overall. trail was beautiful however the app drained my battery so we guessed the way back. At one time 50 to 60 boats could have been seen each day going about their commercial business. Its a pleasant walk, and the Fox Inn on the route is a nice stop off point for a bite to eat, The world is varied goes from paved path walk to climbing hills. The event was commemorated by the placing of a plaque on the old toll house at the top lock and by holding of the National Rally of boats by the Inland Waterways Association in the same year. The Marple locks lift the canal 209ft in a little over a mile.
